Adblock Plus

When I go into the adblock preferences I am presented with a list of filters. I can select multiple items using "ctrl" or "shift" but when I right click on multiple items I do not get the context menu like I do when I right click on only one. I would like to be able to enable or disable more than one filter at a time and this seemed like the logical way to do it but it does not work.

Select multiple filters and press space to enable/disable.

I still think this is an inconsistency in adblock plus' behavior and it would be nice if in future versions selecting multiple filters and right clicking on them would have a similar effect regardless of how many filters were selected. This would help to make Adblock plus easier and more intuitive to use.

I feel you need to stress this only applies when multiple filters are selected. You can disable or enable filters via the context menu when only one filter is selected. I know i'm being picky but just trying to be thorough. Keep up the good work and thanks for a great product.

That's probably because the context menu is the same for me regardless of whether I select one filter or many of them. There is no menu item to disable a single filter, where have you seen it?

Shortcut is Enter for both "Edit subscription" and "Edit filter" - depends on where you are right now.

As to your problem: the action that is associated with the Space key should be available via context menu, that's the bug here. The fact that you only need it when multiple filters are selected doesn't change it.

Sorry I did not make my first post 100% clear. I was having a problem with one of the filters and I did not know which one. I wanted to disable them all but one to help find the culprit. The only way I found to disable a filter was to select it, right click to bring up the context menu, Select "Edit Subscription" and then untick the "Enable Filter" box. Now the problem I was trying to describe is, if I select one filter in the Adblock preferences I right click on it and a context menu appears (as you mentioned no option to disable or enable it though). If I select multiple filters no context menu appears at all when I right click. Also while writing this post I discovered some more strange behaviour. In the context menu, some of the actions have keyboard shortcuts assigned to them. The shortcut for "EDIT SUBSCRIPTIONS" is "ENTER". For me pressing enter just expands the filter to show you the individual entries and does not bring up the "edit filter subscriptions" dialogue box like I expected. I also noticed it is not possible select multiple filters by drawing a square around then with the mouse like you can in most other windows apps (I know you can left click the green dot in the enable column to enable / disable them, but is it too much to ask for a square ?? !!).

Hubird, there is an "edit" button that lets you change a post. Please stop removing it and posting a new version - some people here get notification mails (not to mention that now I replied to something you posted before you actually posted it).

Sorry about the edit thing !! What I was trying to get across is that the bug is not that you can not enable / disable multiple filters via the context menu (this is a bi-product of the bug) The bug is that there is no context menu available once multiple filters have been selected.

I do have a context menu regardless of how many filters I select. What exactly are you selecting - your own filters/subscription's filters/entire subscriptions, regular filters/whitelisting/element hiding/comments?

If I go to into the adblock plus preferences and select more than one filter subscription for example easylist and Jab Creations (not the individual filter rules you get when you expand a filter subscription) I right click and nothing happens. If I do this on just one filter subscription a context menu appears.

I am using Firefox 2.0.0.2 and ABP 0.7.2.4 on WinXP SP2

Hubird, the context menu doesn't appear because there are no functions that would work on multiple subscriptions. Btw, you know that having that many subscriptions only has marginal advantage as compared to only one subscription whereas the chances of a false positive (something blocked that is not an ad) are several times higher?

There is delete, update subscription now, move group up / down all of which would apply to multiple subscriptions.
I have not had any major problems with false positives and am very happy with the job ABP and my current subscriptions do. I concede that this would increase my chances of having issues though. The reason I have so many subscriptions is when I first installed ABP I did not know which to choose, so I chose all the ones that did not say
