I un-installed the incredibly-bloated Quicktime program in favor of the smaller and more user-friendly "Quicktime Alternative" program because of suggestions on another tech forum.

Not only is it smaller, but so far, I can't find any QT video that it won't run ... including the movie trailers on apple.

You can get it here:

I tried it both with the horrid bloat-ware thing which QuickTime has become (latest, fixed version) and also with the quicktime alternative (latest current version), and I'm afraid I have to switch off Adblock plus (latest version) or it crashes. The problem doesn't seem to be with the QuickTime.

My OS and Firefox are also completely up to date.

I unchecked the option to "Show tabs on Flash and Java" and QT no longer crashes FF.
