What can I do with ABP in mail messages?

I couldn't find any documentation for what ABP does in Mail&News/TB. Can I block attached .gif's with it? Or is it only for remote content?

However, you can for example use element hiding to hide attached images (there is no point in "blocking" those since they are already downloaded). http://bugzilla.mozdev.org/show_bug.cgi?id=15699#c3 has some examples.
