There is an easier way to force extensions to install even though they show not to be compatible. Type about:config in the url/address bar.

Then right click on one of the preference's name then /new/boolean a box will open asking for a name. copy and paste extensions.checkCompatibility click ok. then another box will pop up.. chose false. Now when you goto add-ons (either by installing an extension or by clicking tools/add-ons) you will see this.

In the red box you see compatibility checking is disabled. The red circle shows a red explanation point that indicates which extension's version(s) is not compatible. It's good for when you run into problems you can disable the ones with the red explanation points first..starting with the last one you added.

This isn't a 100% guarantee that extensions will work. Some tab extensions are not going to work for sure, because they have added new things to tabs that have broken a lot of tab extensions. For example undo close tab is now a built in feature.

It's the default theme, but I think what you are seeing is I have stylish extension installed and use a style to tweak my add-ons manager just a little.

The style is located here http://userstyles.org/style/show/365

Here is the stylish extension
