Hi,
I am using Firefox 2.0.0.1.1 and Adblock Plus version 0.7.5.3 (current versions as far as I know).
I installed Adblock Plus. It installed fine, without any errors. But it says that it is disabled, even though I have "enabled" selected in the Firefox add-ons menu. It is not blocking any adds, of course.
The attached screenshot (I hope this worked) shows the problem: As you can see, I have it enabled (otherwise it would not allow me to click "disable") but when the "options" window is open (it would not be possible to open it if it were actually disabled, check this if you wish) it says that it is disabled.
I tried using imageshack to host the picture but I've never used it before, hope this works...

Assuming Windows OS, It looks as if you have middle clicked the status bar icon.. is it now grayish? I middle clicked to disable just to see if I would get the same as you got in the screenshot. I did. It still look enabled in the add-ons options like yours as well. Because it's only been disabled within the extension itself not in Firefox. If it's grayish in the status bar try middle clicking it again to re-enable.

Glad you got it fixed. http://adblockplus.org/en/faq_basics#disable says you can also disable Adblock Plus by the toolbar button in the drop down arrow. I didn't know that until I looked for another way it could have been disabled for you.
How about this one? I got ABP as well "permanently disabled" but the problem is I don't have the icon in my toolbar or status bar so I could do anything about it. I don't even have it in the "Customize" window from which I can add buttons to toolbars - maybe because it says it's disabled.
I tried to uninstall ABP, delete everything ABP-related and reinstall it but no. "Adblock Plus is disabled". Any ideas?
Oh yes, I'm running FF3.0b2 on Mac OS X 10.5.1. The problem started when I briefly tried FF2.0.0.11 (using same settings as 3.0) - it sucked. The status bar icons were all packed in lower right corner so I removed them (NoScript and ABP). Well, when I tried to add ABP icon back, I couldn't. And now it says it's disabled.

You can open ABP options window using the tools menu and then selecting ABP in the menu (you may have also disabled this menu item, it is configurable, then you should use the shorcut, Ctrl Shift A).
Once opened the window, you can select options in the ABP Preferences menu(if you are using a Mac the menu is on the top of the screen, not on the top of the window). One of the options is Enable AdblockPlus.
