Sites Detecting AdblockPlus

Post by GTrax »

Some pages, (or possibly some adverts and their scripts) have a way of getting communication back from our PCs that identify AdblockPlus, and pop-up blockers, and seem capable of then linking to a page which delivers anti-adblock polemic, usually about how the site is supported by advertising. Sometimes its just a message in the place the banner would have been.

Could AdBlockplus be made to co-operate less with these? I use AdblockPlus for my own good reasons, but I do wonder at why we have to get up to what amounts to a kind of electronic warfare just to keep getting along normally. Here is an example ..

I think its OK to donate instead.

It's not really detecting adblock per say, it's using styling to make a hidden div replace the space the ad was consuming. If you block:

You'll be ad free there.
