Adblock doesn't work with Trendmicro Housecall

Post by Guest »

Hello,

since i have installed the adblock plugin i can't use trendmicros housecall online virus scanner anymore.

Error Message: "Warning, the HouseCall API did not define a Native Binding!"

I did several tests, uninstalling adblock solves the problem and houscall works fine again.

I'm using Firefox 1.0.7 & Adblock 0.5.10
Any advice or possible solution for this problem? Thank you very much.

I just got the same message: "Warning, the House Call-API did not define a native binding".
I have no idea why this message came now. This has not been a problem earlier, and I have not installed any new software recently.

Curious. The error message I get is
Only Internet Explorer Browser is supported
But I'm in the US. Are you in a different country?

thx for the info
at least i know now that it's AdBlock causing the prob - i did actually report it using the report tool that's included in the beta versions of Firefox [currently 1.5]
would be nice if somebody reported the new findings too
for the guy in the US: your Trend site does indeed return that error, but uk.trendmicro-europe.com does at least try to support Firefox

I got the same error msg on trendmicro housecall too. I'm running Firefox 1.5 with AdBlock Plus 0.5.11.1, and the solution I've found is to goto Adblock>Preferences>Adblock Options> and select (tick) Obj-tabs.
fyi i found this solution hereafter googling.

Scan works perfectly now.

Adblock interfering with Housecall

Great, thanks for the info. Had the same problem ("could not start native API"), and ticking Obj-Tabs in Adblock prefs did the trick :D

Alan: I believe TrendMicro Europe has a java-based version. The US version you're trying to use is using activex.

Why can't you idiots use Adblock Plus 0.6? Is this to difficulty to understand? Adblock Plus 0.5 is dead, and the code of the classic Adblock is obsolete! Waky, waky! Damn, I'm so tired discussing about that with all this fouls in here!

I do not have "AD Block" so why am I getting this message? What can I do about it?

Sounds to me like issues with TrendMicro software being delivered through the web browser. Check out alternate scanners. If you want to stay with a big company, why not go back to the people who wrote the OS:

http://onecare.live.com/standard/en-us/default.htm (free 90 day trial)
http://www.microsoft.com/security/malwa ... fault.mspx (updated every 2 weeks).

I personally recommend something actually installed, and preferably not Norton AV. I've had good luck recently with Avast (http://www.avast.com) and historically was a Grisoft proponent (AVG Free from http://free.grisoft.com).

Mind you, I don't like the resident scanners, so I usually install Avast on a suspect machine, let it run the boot time scan, clean up what's found, then uninstall.
