subscriptions - do they work ?

Post by elvisthepelvis »

Ok whenever I use one of the subscription lists
it always has stuff whitelisted that I want to block, for example I cannot stand googlesyndication but if I try to remove an entry starting with @@ relating to syndication then all the lines of the subscription are removed. Am I misunderstanding the idea of what a subscription is and how I use it ?

From my limited experience, I believe that you are supposed to open the list and click on green "blob" to the right to enable/disable filter or filter set rules.

I don't know if the enable/disable state is carried through on the weekly updates or not.

Elvis:

The previous poster is correct. Just click the green bullet next to any strings you wish to disable. And "yes" those settings will stay even after a new update.

It is a very nice feature of ABP ... people can "fine tune" subscriptions for their own tastes.

I do appologise, actually, after posting I realised I should have been thinking RTFM but instead posted ! Thank you
I read the FAQ just after posting and realised I have been using adblockplus wrongly for the past 18 months or two years or so -
I have now got bookmarks to all the faqs and manuals

Also I do appologise for having postede in General Rather than the filters section -

No, I think you posted correctly as is really is a question about how ABP functions more than a question about the filter themselves :)
